Chao Phraya River (Thailand)
The Chao Phraya River, winding through Bangkok’s iconic temples and bustling markets, draws tourists with its rich cultural scenery. However, it also transports microplastics from urban runoff and agriculture. Studies have detected 21 particles/m³ in central Bangkok and 520,000 particles/km² in the estuary during the dry season, posing risks to fish, mangroves, and coastal ecosystems [1][2].
